Scouting Report:
Finally stopped complaining… demanded a trade from the Brgy. Ginebra because he wasn’t given a superstar billing… he feels with Eric Menk in tow, he won’t be able to win major individual awards… he got his wish and was traded to sister team San Miguel Beer where he would have to contend with Dorian Pena, Danny Seigle and Danny Ildefonso… drafted 2nd overall in the 2003 PBA Draft by Ginebra, just behind Mike Cortez… did not take off as experts predicted him to… a major disappointment in the pros… although he plays solidly as a back-up center, he is nowhere close to approaching Eric Menk’s and other top big men’s status… offensive game lags behind his defensive game… does not have a perimeter jumper and no signature move inside other than power moves towards the basket… former MBA superstar with the Manila Metrostars has virtually won every major award in the amateurs… played for the San Sebastian Stags in the NCAA and helped the school win a record 4 consecutive championships… teammate was ex-Ginebra players Banjo Calpito and Rodney Santos… fixture in several international tourneys with the national team… a PBA MVP award is the only missing piece to his collection, does he enough left in the tank to pursue it? Don’t bet on it.
