Olsen Racela

Olsen RacelaJersey number: 17
Name: Rodericko Racela
Height/Weight: 5'10" 165 lbs.
Age: 37
Date of Birth: 11/1/1970
Hometown: Quezon City
Position: Point Guard
Years Pro:
College: Ateneo de Manila University
Teams played for: Purefoods, San Miguel

Scouting Report:
Will enter his 15th season as a pro… drafted 10th overall in the 1993 PBA Draft out of Ateneo by Purefoods… played 4 years as a Hotdog as a back-up to Dindo Pumaren initially and as a starter when the Bullet was traded… and was destined as a back-up point guard in the pros but a late talent spurt made him a starter at San Miguel… dealt to the Beermen in 1997 for a couple of second round drafts because ex-SMB coach Ron Jacobs was looking for someone to fill Hector Calma’s shoes who retired 3 years earlier… emerged as the league’s best point guard in the late 90s… most famous for missing two free throws that could have iced the game for team Philippines in the Busan Asian games semifinals against the host country (they went on to lose the game via a buzzer beating 3-point shot by a South Korean player)… curiously, I have never seen him choke under pressure in any of his PBA games… clutch player and a great playmaker… he could finally retire at the end the year, with the arrival of LA Tenorio.
