2009 PBA Mock Draft

FIRST ROUND

1) Welcoat - Japeth Aguilar (6-9 C Western Kentucky/Ateneo). If he does not make it into the NBA, he'll the top pick here. Has size, athletic ability, and shotblocking potential.

2) Coca Cola - Jervy Cruz (6-5 F University of Sto. Tomas). Best big man to come out of the UAAP since Benjie Paras and Dennis Espino.

3) Sta. Lucia - Edwin Asoro (6-3 F National University). Terror on the boards and on defense. Also has good body and athleticism. Can he play small forward in the pros?

4) Air21 - Jonathan Fernandez (6-2 G National University). Shades of Renren Ritualo? He has similar game but could be a better defender.

5) Purefoods - Rino Berame (6-7 C University of the Visayas). Surprised scouts when he schooled 2006 UAAP MVP Ken Bono during the Collegiate Champions' League. Has good post moves.

6) Alaska - Eric John Llanto (6-5 F University of San Carlos). Another Cebuano big man who has great rebounding instincts and accurate shooting touch that extends out to the three-point area. Bruiser, has size and heft at his position. Could be a better prospect than a young John Ferriols.

7) Red Bull - Kelvin Dela Peña (6-0 G Mapua Institute of Technology). NCAA's best guard was schooled in Canada. Can play both backcourt spots effectively well but his pro future is at the point. Great scorer and can shoot the lights out when needed.

8) Air21 (via Talk N Text) - Marcelino III Arellano (5-11 G University of the East) . He's a combo guard who has sick three-point shooting touch and playmaking ability

9) San Miguel - Joseph Evans Casio (5-10 G De la Salle). A Brandon Cablay-type scoring guard who will be difficult to stop in transition.

10) Ginebra - Anthony Espiritu (6-4 F University of Sto. Tomas). Shooting touch for a big man is nonpareil

SECOND ROUND

11) Coca Cola - Jermaine Phillips (6-0 G St. Edwards University)
12) Welcoat - Martin Jr. Urra (6-2 G College of St. Benilde)
13) Sta. Lucia - Rogemar Menor (6-2 F San Beda College)
14) Air21 - Francis De Leon (6-7 C San Sebastian College)
15) Red Bull (via Purefoods) - Niño Ramirez (6-0 G University of San Carlos)
16) Alaska - Morsie Akad (6-1 G University of the Visayas)
17) Red Bull - Alvyn Cabonce (6-3 G-F Letran College)
18) Talk N Text - Chester Lloyd Taylor (6-4 University of Sto. Tomas)
19) San Miguel - Jayford Rodriguez (6-4 F University of the Visayas)
20) Ginebra - Ian Garrido (6-5 F Philippine Christian University)
