A Realtor surprise?

What's up with the Realtors and why is it they keep on beefing their roster with marginal talent (ok you can argue low profile names)? Do the names Dennis Daa, Christian Coronel, Melvin Mamaclay, Philip Butel, Erwin Sta. Maria, Derrick Hubalde and Alvin Pua ring a bell to you? Well, if you are ardent follower of the PBL, MVBA, UAAP, NCAA, URBL and NBC you may have probably heard about these guys before. In terms of pro potential, however, these guys are a longshot to even make a meaningful contribution to the team. Daa, though, could be closer than the other six on the list. He has been toughened up by stints in the PBL which culminated with a spot in the Mythical Five. The contracts of Dennis Espino and Marlou Aquino - all max - have been the culprits why the Realtors continue to field a marginal bench corps. Good thing, the team traded the mammoth pact of Kenneth Duremdes. I cannot think of a way how Sta. Lucia's top brasses have been able to magically work their way in a highly-structured salary cap and still field a decent line-up. While the team's first five is very solid: Aquino, Espino, Kelly Williams, Ryan Reyes and Paolo Mendoza or Joseph Yeo, it gets ugly when the first five heads to the bench. Their bench corps resemble no better than a PBL roster and that problem may become apparent when one of their starters limps off with an injury. Kudos though to the Sta. Lucia management for giving players like Coronel and Daa a great opportunity to prove that they belong in the pro league. Who knows, one or two from among them could pull off a surprise and provide the team immediate help.
