Dirty Basketball Game

In the 1936 Olympic finals in basketball, the United States had the misfortune of figuring in a muddy-showdown with Canada, The game was held outdoors, on a court enclosed by a brick border. The rains poured heavily and in a wink of an eye the court was covered with mud. The players had a difficult time running and dribbling the ball. At halftime, the score stood at only 15-4, in favor of the US. In the second half the water, trapped by the brick border, had collected an inch deep, and dnbbling virtually became impossible. A total of eight points was scored in the second half and the US came away with a 19-8 victory and the gold medal.
