Earl Timothy "Tim" Cone
Is the triangle system slowly fading?… Coach Tim Cone insists the system is still working but needs to have the players more suited to run it… was almost replaced last season after 18 years of coaching the franchise (the most by any coach in history)… the addition of assistant coach Joel Banal, his former protégé does not faze him… he believes that with Willie Miller, Mike Cortez, Jeffrey Cariaso and the emergence of Sonny Thoss in the middle, he has the ingredients to make Alaska a dominant team again… he needs time to that though… led Alaska to 11 PBA titles, including a rare grandslam in 1996… started coaching the franchise in 1989… the entry of Johnny Abarrientos, Jojo Lastimosa, Bong Hawkins, Jeffrey Cariaso and Poch Juinio while also having resident import Sean Chambers to the Alaska lineup would install the Milk Kings as the most dominant team in the 90s, winning 8 titles in 14 conferences… was appointed coach of the Centennial Team that copped 3rd place in the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand… last won a PBA title in 2000 (All Filipino)… would love to win some more before rolling up his sleeves.
