Ryan Gregorio

Ryan GregorioDespite suffering through two forgettable seasons that were arguably the worst in the franchise's history, top management deemed it wise to hold unto former UP alum Ryan Gregorio and give him full blanket to build his own team in his own terms... two years after, Purefoods is starting to reap the benefits of its labor... in 2005-06, Purefoods went to the finals of both Fiesta Cup and the Philippine Cup, winning the crown in the latter for a record 5 times... one of the youngest and brightest coaches in the pro league... a two-time PBA Press Corps Coach of Year… took over the head coaching chores for Purefoods in the 2002 PBA Governor's Cup after head coach Eric Altamirano was named assistant coach to the National Team in the 2002 Asiad... that team minus reliables Noy Castillo, Andy Seigle and Boyet Fernandez, and with new acquisition Kerby Raymundo and import Derrick Brown went on to win the crown... formally assumed the head coaching job for Purefoods prior to the opening of the 2003 PBA season as Eric Altamirano was tasked to handle the SMC touring team... unique coaching system allows assistant coach Ronnie Magsanoc to take of the offensive plays while assistant coach Koy Banal to handle the defensive alignments... son of UP System Vice President For Administration Martin Gregorio ... married to Jin Gregorio with whom he has 2 children: Ysabelle and Ramon Jose... Gregorio's strength lies in motivating his players to play beyond their capabilities... Under his term, James Yap was named league MVP, Kerby Raymundo became the league's top forward and Pingris won the Most Improved Player honors and the Defensive Player of the Year... favorite motivational technique is preparing a music video that lifets the spirit, heart and confidence of the players in the crucial stages of the tournament.
