Joseller "Yeng" Guiao

Yeng GuiaoDondon Hontiveros now knows how it feels like receiving an elbow to the face… from a coach at that… Guiao is one of the PBA’s most colorful but often much-maligned coach… he is tough, favors rough and physical brand of play and is just committed to winning… fines, suspensions, and a trip to the Commissioner’s Office are a habit to him… suspended for his actions against Hontiveros and also got suspended for fighting with Talk N Text team manager Frankie Lim… has won six PBA championships in his 13-year pro coaching career… started out as head coach of the Swift team in the PBL… when the club got the PBA go-signal to expand, he was appointed head coach of Swift during its maiden year in 1990… traded to Pepsi in 1995 in a much celebrated swap for coach Derek Pumaren… left the PBA in 1997 and joined the PBL as commissioner until the 2000 season… Vice Governor of the province of Pampanga… father is the late Bren Guiao, former Pampanga Governor… studied at the University of the Philippines before entering the coaching ranks in the 1980's… appointed head coach of Red Bull when the Photokina franchise joined the PBA in 2000… kept his head bald since 1994 and insists it was not due to Bembol Roco’s increasing popularity… it was made after Swift lost a game and all members of the coaching and players shaved their head to “wake them up” as a sign of unity.
