Scouting Report:
Didn’t enjoy the kind of season he had the previous year when he was named to the Mythical Five… Still was a solid contributor for the Giants, providing stability to the unstable backcourt of the Giants… was one of the instrumental figures for the Giants' successful 2005-06 season... very deadly in the open court with his acrobatic drives and great court sense... has made a successful transition to the point guard spot... Trade to Purefoods was a homecoming of sorts for the Cebu City native... drafted by the team 9th overall in the 2001 PBA draft. After just season with the team, he was released unconditionally to FedEx... made waves as the Express' starting point guard but it was in his stint with Shell that everyone noticed... traded by FedEx to Shell for a future first round pick... Purefoods got him again for journeyman Tony Boy Espinosa…Gov. Rene Pardo swore he regretted the day they released Yap to FedEx without compensation... great talent who can handle both backcourt positions with relative ease... one of the best rebounding guards in the league... 2005-06 PBA Mythical Five member.
