Former basketball player Manny Victorino was held Monday morning at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) after security personnel found him in possession of live ammunition.
Victorino, who played in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), was supposed to fly to Guam when he was stopped after airport officials found him carrying seven bullets for .38-caliber pistols.
According to Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group director Atillano Morada, Victorino was brought to the Pasay City Prosecutor's office for inquest.
The former popular center of the defunct Great Taste is expected to be charged with illegal possession of ammunition and violation of the election gun ban. Victorino also played for Ginebra, Pepsi and Presto.
The NAIA security personnel had an intensified implementation of security and safety within the country's premier gateway following last Friday's bombing at the Glorietta 2 Mall in Makati City.
The powerful blast killed 11 people and wounded scores of others.
