October 11, 2007

The rivalry between the Manny Pacquiao-led Team PacMan and the Cebu Sports Media Association (CSMA) Hoopsters continue to flourish as they meet in the opening game of the 1st MP Cup Invitational Basketball Tournament this Sunday at the University of San Carlos gym.

Team PacMan will once again try to dominate the Cebu sportswriters, which is now beefing up their lineup with media workers.

Pacquiao suited up and led his team to a 3-1-1 win-loss-draw record over CSMA during his rest days from training at the RWS International Gym for the Marco Antonio Barrera rematch.

Aside from the two squads, 16 other teams will compete for a total of P100,000 in cash prizes in the league.

Testing the skills of Team PacMan and CSMA are other teams grouped in Bracket A that include the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association selection, MS Motosuit-Unity Basketball Club of sports patron Lou Ornopia, RWS Stable, Club Monday, Philippine Farmer’s Bank-IBP, Metro Cebu Water District and the House of
Hope.

Bracket B is composed of the San Carlos Boys High Alumni Basketball Association, Punta Princesa Sports Association, the Jaycees Basketball Association, the Dewfoam-United Architects Basketball Club, Casino Filipino-Mactan, Metro Cebu Basketball Association, Barkada-Rama Boys with Vice Mayor Mike Rama suiting up, and Coco Roj-Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC).
