The NCAA All Stars leaned heavily on the exploits of RJ Jazul and Ogie Menor as they downed their UAAP counterparts, 83-78, yesterday in the Samsung-Bantay Bata 163 All Stars at The Arena in San Juan.

With NCAA trailing by 14 points in the first half, Jazul, the Letran joined forces, fuelling a searing final-half charge to carry their team to victory.

Jazul drained clutch three-pointers and finished with a game-high 22 points to win the MVP award.

Nigerian behemoth Sam Ekwe added 19 points including five in the stretch to finish off the UAAP side.

Earlier, Rey Guevarra of Letran exhibited two dazzling jams that earned perfect points, besting Ekwe and Fil-Nigerian Hans Thiele of the University of the East in the slam dunk competition.

La Salle’s JV Casio won the three-point shooting contest and the University of the Philippines’ Vicmel Epres and Martin Reyes reigned supreme in the two-ball event.

Casio walloped San Beda’s JR Tecson, 23-6, in the finals of the three-point shootout while Epres and Reyes edged the UE tandem of Paul Lee and Jorel Canizares, 45-42, for the two-ball crown.
