Former Pros: Noni Robles
Ranulfo "Noni" Robles was an amateur hotshot who could score in every conceivable way but his star did not shine bright in the pros as everybody expected. He was only used sparingly and as a result, he was not able to show that the stuff that he was made of. He played in only a total of 3 seasons as a pro for Manila Beer and Presto averaging a disappointing 3.4 ppg.
Noni was born on June 28, 1961 in Batangas. He was the fourth of two girls and five boys of Pablo Robles and Gracia de Villa, both from San Juan, Batangas, where the family has a coconut plantation. He spent his elementary and high school days in his hometown. Noni first saw action in the NCAA in 1977 and was a member of the 1979 champion team of Letran College.
The 6-1 Robles was starting to make waves with the YCO team in 1979 but with its disbandment, Noni had to start anew with Crispa’s amateur team in 1980, the same year he made it to the ASEAN Youth in Singapore. He was also a member of the RP team in the 1982 Asian Games at New Delhi, and prior to his M-99 stint, Noni was playing for Arellano University where he transferred from Letran.
In 1986, he was drafted by Manila Beer in the first round of the draft but couldn't get his acts together in the pros. He retired in 1988.
