Former Pros: Mark Anthony Tallo

One of the shortest players to grace the PBA hardcourt was the 5-6 Cebuano Mark Anthony Tallo. Tallo was a spitfirish point guard who defined speed and playmaking ability in basketball. Despite his smallish frame, Tallo didn't let his opponents think they had an advantage over him. He used his quickness and basketball know-how to turn that disadvantage into an advantage for him.

Tallo is the youngest of seven kids of policeman Federico Tallo and Estanisla Legaspi. He spent three years with the SWU juniors and another 3 years with the SWU seniors both coached by Bobby Inoferio. He was a Computer Science graduate.

Mark first dabbled In BMX riding and won a championship in an inter-barangay tournament in Cebu before shifting to basketball.

After his collegiate stint, he saw action in the PABL with Mama's Love in 1987. He returned back home to play in the commercial leagues in Cebu and Negros.

When Dindo Pumaren decided to turn pro in 1989, then Magnolia coach Derrick Pumaren recruited him to fill the gap at the point guard where he would start to a carve a name for himself. He applied for the draft in 1991 but was not drafted by any team. Teams were wary of his size and doubted that he had the skills to player in the majors. Fortunately, Seven Up gave him a chance to show his wares on the floor. He lasted 2 seasons in the PBA averaging 2.6 ppg in 55 games.
