Cone, hindi komportable sa paggamit ng FIBA rules

Hindi komportable si Alaska head coach Tim Cone sa paglalaro sa ilalim ng ilang amateur rules.

Sinabi ni Cone na ang basketball rules sa Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) ay sadyang inilatag para makahatak at makapagbigay ng saya sa mga basketball afficio-nados, habang ang amateur rules naman ay para sa mga FIBA-sanctioned tournaments kagaya ng Olympic Games, Men’s Basketball Championships, Asian Games at Southeast Asian Games.

“The PBA rules are laid down to attract the fans and entertain the fans. I don’t think the FIBA rules are necessary to attract the fans. And I don’t think the FIBA games are exciting as well,” ani Cone.

Sa hangaring masa-nay sa amateur rules, minabuti ng PBA na kumuha ng ilang FIBA rules para sa kasalu-kuyang PBA Pre-Season Tournament.

Kabilang sa mga ito ay ang paghihigpit sa handcheck fouls, ang paglapit sa distansya ng three-point range at ang pagluluwag sa goal tending calls kung saan pina-payagan ang isang man-lalaro na tapikin pala-bas ang bolang nasa ibabaw pa ng ring.

Maski ang sinusun-dang National Basketball Association (NBA) ay hindi gumagamit ng mga FIBA rules, ayon kay Cone,

“Yes, the FIBA tournaments are important for the National team that will be competing for the Olympic qualifier, Asian Games and Southeast Asian Games but that’s only three weeks preparation out of about three years,” wika ni Cone.
