BAP-SBP, Magpapasok Ng Serbian Coach

GAME NA! Ni Bill Velasco
Sunday, September 9, 2007

“You are much better than I thought. You move well, and you show a good understanding of the game,” sabi ni Djurovic noon. “But three things you must work on: one, do not give openings on defense; two, big guys must learn to score against bigger defenders; and three, outside shooting must improve. In Serbia, nobody shoots five out of five 3-pointers, but nobody makes one or two out of five, either. Every top player here will make 3 or 4 out of 5 if left open from the outside.”

“Some of the things we’ve gotten used to doing are already useless, so we need to find a way to blend the European style of play with the Asian style, to come up with a Filipino style,” sabi ni national team head coach Chot Reyes. “Coach Vlade has shown us drills we have never seen before.”

“With Coach Djurovic coming over, we will gain a big advantage not only for our coaches, but for our grassroots development program, as well,” ani BAP-SBP executive director Patrick Gregorio. “This will be a major innovation for Philippine basketball.”
