Greatest imports of all time

In no particular order, here are my own selections for best imports of all time:

Billy Ray Bates – nicknamed the “Black Superman”… probably the most exciting import to grace Philippine shores… two-time best import awardee… led Crispa to its second grandslam in 1983… returned to the PBA in 1988 as one of Ginebra’s two reinforcements in the Open Conference and led the Gins to a PBA crown.

Tony Harris – nicknamed the “Hurricane”… 1992 Best Import winner one of the most explosive, if not the most explosive import ever… broke the 7-year record of Michael Hackett for the highest individual score in a single game with 105 points on October 10, 1992… scored 60+ points 14 times in his PBA playing career.

Bobby Parks – seven-time Best Import awardee… first played for San Miguel in 1987, latched on to the Shell team the next season and began his string of Best Import awards… coached the Shell team in 90s.

Sean Chambers – played for only one team in his ten-year tenure as import for the Alaska team… 1996 Governor’s Cup Best Import winner… recipient of the second 100% Award

Norman Black – recipient of the first 100% Award given to imports who have demonstrated great resolve, durability and dedication to their job… two-time Best Import awardee… third all-time winningest coach in history… coached San Miguel to its grandslam season in 1989.

Michael Hackett – held the league record for most points in a single game with 103 points until Tony Harris broke his record 7 years later… 1985 Best Import Awardee… still holds the league record for most rebounds in a single game (45), most turnovers (14), and most two-point shots made (45).
