“The Triggerman”… The best shooter in the PBA of all-time… holds the record for most points in a game by a local (79 points), on November 21, 1991 in a Presto win over Ginebra (162-149) punctuated by 17 triples, which is also a PBA record… drafted first overall in the 1987 PBA Draft… 1987 Rookie of the Year… 1990 Most Valuable Player… Eight-time Mythical Team Selection (including six-time Mythical Five Selection)… born June 15, 1963… spent 13 seasons (1987-1999) in the PBA before finally calling it quits in 1999… averaged 19.6ppg for Presto, San Miguel and Ginebra… member of the 5,000 and 10,000 points, as well as the 500 steals clubs.
Bogs Adornado
Born May 26, 1951…career was marked by injuries… despite that, still managed to last 12 seasons in the league averaging 20.4ppg for Crispa, Utex, Great Taste, Shell and Hills Bros from 1975-76, 78-87… only third man in PBA history to win the MVP at least three times (with Alvin Patrimonio and Ramon Fernandez)… won the MVP in the league’s first two seasons (1975-76) until various injuries forced him to miss out his third season in the league… made a giant recovery in the 1981 season, winning his last MVP… Mythical Team member a record 8 times… member of the 5,000 and 10,000 point clubs… registered 64 points on November 23, 1980 in a U-Tex win against San Miguel (126-111).
Alvin Patrimonio
“Captain Lionheart”… born November 17, 1966… one of only two players to have won the MVP at least four times (1991, 1993, 1994, 1997)… he’s the epitome of mr. durable, playing 596 straight games (spanning 12 years) for the Hotdogs … played 17 seasons (1988-2005) in the PBA, averaging 17.6ppg and 7.2rpg in 857 games for Purefoods…a list of his other achievements: 12 all-star game appearances, 11 mythical team selections, six championships, member of the 15,000, 10,000 and 5,000-point clubs, 2000 defensive rebounds and 1000 offensive rebounds, and 2000 assists clubs, as well… three-time Best Player of the Conference Awardee.
Robert Jaworski
“The Big J”… born March 8, 1946… oldest professional basketball player in the world at 52 in 1998… longest tenured player in the PBA history, seeing action for 24 seasons (1975-1998) in the league, averaging 12.3ppg, 5.6rpg, 6.1apg, and 1.0spg in 958 games for Toyota and Ginebra… MVP in 1978… mythical team selection six times… member of the 5,000, 10,000 points, 2000 Defensive Rebounds, 1000 Offensive Rebounds, 5000 assists, and 2000 assists and 500 steals club… 4 championships as coach, and 13 as a player… all-time leader in assists, and number 4 in steals… only guard in the top 6 in the total rebounds total… third in most games played.
