Leo Austria
One of the headiest point guards in the PBA, Leo is attempting to passed on that ability to his young team in the pros… previously coached the Shell Turbochargers team in 2004… had a brief stint with the Adamson Falcons and was credited for developing players like Ken Bono and Patrick Cabahug… also mentored several PBL teams such as Chowking, Shark Energy Kings and Welcoat/Rain or Shine… a legend in the PBL as a player and as a coach… a good 3-point shooter in his younger days, Austria knows talent and knows how to harness that for good use… drafted in the 5th round in the very first organized PBA draft in 1985 but surprised everybody by copping the Rookie of the Year Award… played for Shell and Pepsi in his 8-year PBA career that lasted in 1993, averaging 4.5ppg in 394 games… played varsity ball for the Lyceum of the Philippines, Masagana 99 in the PABL, and had several national team stints prior to jumping to the pros… he was Shell's last head coach prior to its disbandment in 2005 and the Welcoat franchise’s first head coach… a bit of trivia: only coach to have coached the son (Junjun Cabatu ) of his ex-teammate (Sonny Cabatu) during his playing years.
