Binky Favis

Binky FavisJust coasting through… before the sale of the company to Coca Cola International, SMC raided the Tigers most of its stars, leaving only Ali Peek, John Arigo, Denok Miranda and a bunch of rookies and has-beens to banner the team… Binky had no choice but to follow orders… despite the disadvantage that the Tigers had to deal with, the team had a magnificent showing last season… they had no backup to Ali Peek in the center position and had no one else after Denok Miranda takes a breather but made an excellent job finding solutions to these problems… Binky gave new confidence to Allan Salangsang and Chris Pacana who both played pivotal roles in the Tigers’ campaign last season… played college for UST Growling Tigers in the UAAP… realized that he didn’t have enough to pursue pro dreams and went instead to coaching… coached the Letran Knights in the NCAA before coaching the Batangas Blades in the defunct NCAA… made everyone notice with his coaching wizardry that prompt coaching bigwigs to include him in the national team coaching staff as chief scout, and later as part of the SMC coaching staff… appointed head coach of the Coca Cola Tigers in 2006… master of breaking of down opponents’ sweet defenses and sweet plays… one of the most promising young coaches in the country right now.
